Meals

We are a 5 star food standard hygiene rating

At Mostyn Lodge, we provide residents with a 4 week seasonal menu that is changed every 6 months. Our menu is a snap shot into the person centred care that we provide as it is based on what our residents enjoy. From traditional dishes such as fish and chips, to more oriental dishes such as Chinese stir fry’s and rice dishes, we are able to cater to all tastes and palettes. We pride ourselves on having fully trained care staff to cook the meals so that residents can feel as if they are ‘home from home’ with the opportunity of being able to participate in the preparation and cooking of the meals if they wish. All diets can be catered for e.g. graded diet, diabetic, gluten free, vegetarian, halal.

Social Areas
There is one large lounge for the residents’ use with a conservatory overlooking the beautiful garden. There is plenty of space for family and friends to visit. There is also a quiet room where residents can enjoy listening to music. Any resident can choose to stay in their own room if they wish.

Family Involvement
Relatives and friends are encouraged to visit at any reasonable time and can maintain regular contact by telephone, letter or email. Care staff will assist whenever help may be needed. Visitors must, for security and fire and safety reasons sign the visitor’s book on arrival and prior to leaving the home. The resident has the right to refuse to see any visitor and this wish will be respected by all staff.

Activities
At Mostyn Lodge, we pride ourselves on providing stimulation to our residents in an environment where they feel comfortable to try new things that may be outside of their comfort zone. As we are a dementia friendly care home, we endeavour to tailor activities to clients with varied needs throughout the week. We have activities that are hosted by external companies as well as in house activities provided by our care staff.

An example of the activities we have are:
  • G Fitness; an hour of armchair exercising that encourages clients to get active regardless of their physical ability.
  • Brighter Moments; an hour of quizzes, interactive games and themed sing alongs during the morning.
  • Churches Together; An hour of hymns, prayer and bible readings.
  • Kiddley Divey; An hour session of sing along with interactive props and instruments.
  • Paint pals; An afternoon spent with the pupils of St Keyna’s primary school where clients and children can enjoy a variety of arts and crafts whilst building a relationship with one another.
  • Golden toes; A session of dance that has been adapted to older clients with specialised needs.
Our care staff also provide weekly manicures to all residents as well as quizzes, bingo, board games, card games, arts and crafts and baking.

Fees
All of the above is included in the weekly premium cost. The room cost is £1200 per week depending on assessment.
See more about care fees and what is included here.

Admission
We provide long or short stay for over sixty five years of age. Prospective residents and relatives have an opportunity to visit the home prior to admission and the Manager or Deputy will discuss individual requirements. A thorough assessment is carried out; either in the residents’ own home or in hospital to ensure healthcare needs can be met. If residents are referred from the Clinical Commissioning Group or Community Care Services, a summary of the health care needs is obtained wherever possible. Individuals will move in on a trial basis (usually one month) before the final decision to stay. A Contract of Residence must be signed.
